A river is a natural stream of water flowing through a channel in the surface of the ground and moving towards an ocean, sea, lake or another rivers.
In some cases, a river flows into the ground and becomes dry at the end of its course without reaching another body of water.
A river begins on high ground or in hills or mountains and flows down from the high ground to the lower ground, because of gravity.
A river begins as a small stream, and gets bigger the farther it flows.
